Amber Valley Stone were appointed by main contractor Gilbert‑Ash to manufacture and supply a full package of bespoke precast concrete elements as part of the transformational Young’s Court development at Emmanuel College, Cambridge. The scheme, designed by Stanton Williams, introduces exemplary new residential, study and social facilities within the historic collegiate setting.
Our Scope
Working closely with Gilbert‑Ash, the architects, and the client team, Amber Valley Stone supplied a comprehensive range of high‑quality Wet Cast architectural precast units in an Ivory colour with a medium acid‑etched finish. Units supplied included Copings, Mullions, Jambs, Cills, Panels, Lintels, and a bespoke name plaque with cast‑in lettering and emblem.
Project Context
The Young’s Court development represents Emmanuel College’s most significant new facilities in over 100 years, integrating new landscapes, courtyards, student accommodation and social spaces within the historic Cambridge context. The architectural approach emphasises durability, high‑quality materials and a sensitive dialogue between old and new.
